Swing type is the one of the check valves (name also clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve). Check valves’ main function is to allow fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction. Therefore, there are some technology features of each type.
A swing check valve has a butterfly shape, where the disc, the movable part used to block the flow, that is why it swings on a hinge or trunnion, either onto the seat to block reverse flow or off the seat to allow forward flow. The seat opening cross-section may be perpendicular to the centerline between the two ports or at an angle.
Turbulence and pressure drop within the valve are very low what makes them more demanded. The next reason why this type of valves is widespread in industrial application is that swing check valves allows full, unobstructed flow and automatically closes as pressure decreases. These valves are fully closed when the flow reaches zero and prevent back flow. (more…)

Monday, November 23rd, 2009All about tilting disc check valve: description, main function, leading manufacturer.
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Let’s start from check valves description. This type of industrial valves is classified as one-way directional valves. Why so? Check valves permit gases and liquids to flow in only one direction. This permission prevents process flow from reversing. Tilting disk valves’ type keeps fluid resistance and turbulence low because of its straight-through structure.
Tilting disc check valve has the same working process, it is opened when flow goes through one direction and closes at backflow. Their fast closure system ensures good pump protection and it can be considered as the main application of tilting disc check valves. It is widely used in different industries (agricultural, water system, for aggressive liquid conveyance applications and many others) for gases and liquids and is not recommended when a flow has solids in suspension.
